An Approach to Managing Recurrence of Sebaceous Hyperplasia
Addressing only the surface issue may leave the root cause of the lesion untouched.
Sebaceous hyperplasia is a skin lesion characterized by the abnormal enlargement and proliferation of sebaceous glands within the dermis.
However, some procedures focus solely on removing visible lesions with a laser.
While such methods may appear to offer short-term improvement,
if the underlying cause of the sebaceous glands is not addressed, there is a possibility of the lesions recurring.
Considering this, we adopt a different approach.
Our goal is to reduce the likelihood of recurrence by removing surface lesions while also controlling the underlying internal causes.
Rather than simply treating the outward symptoms,
we pursue a method that manages both the cause and the symptoms simultaneously.
To achieve this, we utilize a combination of two devices.
1. Potenza Microneedling RF (Insulated Single-Pin Radiofrequency Needle)
By directly delivering radiofrequency thermal energy to the areas where sebaceous glands are located,
it can help selectively destroy the sebaceous glands.
Utilizing an insulated needle, it minimizes damage to the epidermis and surrounding tissues,
and is designed for focused treatment of sebaceous glands.
This method can contribute to addressing the root cause of sebaceous hyperplasia.
2. Erbium YAG Laser (Er:YAG)
With its precise depth control,
it is used for delicate removal of outwardly protruding lesions.
It helps reduce tissue damage, thereby lessening recovery burden and lowering the potential for scarring.
If necessary, we can also assist with treating deeper lesions by combining it with a CO2 laser.
This differs from simply removing the lesions.
In the case of CO2 monotherapy (ablation), primarily only the superficial part is removed, which means the fundamental part of the sebaceous gland may remain, leading to a possibility of recurrence.
Our combined procedure aims to reduce the likelihood of recurrence by regulating the sebaceous glands themselves and simultaneously clearing surface lesions.
Key Characteristics of Sebaceous Hyperplasia
Sebaceous Hyperplasia
Simply removing the surface may not be enough.
When visible symptoms and internal causes are managed simultaneously, we can expect a reduction in the likelihood of recurrence.
Are you experiencing symptoms like these?
Small, round bumps on the forehead, cheeks, or around the nose
A shape that appears slightly indented in the center
Resembles a pimple, but no contents are expelled when pressed
Does not disappear over time, or gradually increases in number
These phenomena are not merely simple skin blemishes,
but may indicate *Sebaceous Hyperplasia*, a condition where sebaceous glands abnormally overgrow.
Q&A
고객님들이 가장 많이 물어보시는 내용을 모았습니다.
Why is it recommended to perform Potenza treatment concurrently?
When performing treatments focused on sebaceous glands, such as syringoma or sebaceous gland hyperplasia, combining with Potenza can help reduce the possibility of symptom recurrence.
What is the expected recovery period after the procedure?
It is generally recommended to apply a regenerative tape (e.g., Duoderm, Duoderm Gel) to the treated area for at least 2 weeks.
What is the level of pain during the procedure?
The degree of pain experienced can vary from person to person. We strive to minimize discomfort by applying anesthetic cream before the procedure.
